VMATs

Vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT1-2) is involved in the packaging of monoamines to storage vesicles in nerve terminals, and the subsequent transport of the vesicles. VMAT1 is expressed in peripheral neuroendocrine cells, whereas VMAT2 is also expressed in the monoaminergic neurons of central and peripheral sympathetic nervous systems. ¹
